Hey everybody blogging from camp, man am I getting older or what. We just got back from NYC and the next day I was off to camp and the next day my body said that's enough, so I took a three hour nap. I am reminded that the 20's are long gone by the way my body reacts. The students we brought to camp are terrific and are all doing well. God I believe is doing great things in their lives and ask you to pray for them. I'll be back to continue our series on "Astonishing People". I have some pic's posted on my Facebook account, I'm trying to put some up every day.

Leadership takes guts!
When most people think of leadership they usally have a certain idea of a person, or even a particular position they think of: President, teachers, military, business leaders all of these may come to mind. Then you ask what about the Church's leadership, a lot of other things come to our minds, and the prospective of what a leader really would be determined by many factors like have I been raised in church, or looking from the outside in we would and will have a different out look on leadership. From the inside a leader or leaders are sometime determined by economic and social standards, business owners, the person is a leader in his or her own profession, some times leadership inside the church is determined by election, or tradition, or when nobody will take the job of leadership, they are placed into leadership by default because nobody else will step up. I have to admit out of all of these we do and have found people who step it up and do the job, but most of the time leaders are not found this way.
-
Leadership is a process, it takes time to find and develop "Godly leaders", I must admit that I get anxious and try to force the issue and end up cleaning up messes that could be avoided. Then again I have not move fast enough and potential leaders move on or find other avenues of ministry and leave you behind or they get discouraged. So what are you saying? there's a lot of books and ideas out there and some are helpful, but the most helpful is when God speaks to me about someone in my heart and to my knowledge this has never failed, so prayer is and always should be our first steps when we are choosing leaders.

Oh by the way after service this morning I had the privilege to lead a young man to Christ and he is going to get baptized next week at the Little Pee Dee river, this never gets old, to see new birth is always a exciting. Remember the Challenge be an "Astonishing Person of God" this week.
